Trenton Project Update – Jan.22, 2013

Well, what started *scratches head* 9 months ago (probably more) is wrapping up very soon. The due date for the Trenton Project rewards will soon be in the hands of the pledges. Some have already been sent to folks in the US and Brazil ! There are rewards still to be delivered locally and to The Netherlands. There’s a lot of preparation to start any project. I was able to find artists who heard my pitch, believed in the concept and lent their talents to this project. I’ve received a lot of great feedback on the artwork. The letterpress cards from artist Crystal Vaughan were picked up this week (here is a write up from Crystal’s blog).

The Trenton Project is wrapping up, and now I’m starting to send out press releases for the Trenton EP. It’s now time to tell various media about the music and spread the word (here is an article from Pictou County newspaper The News). There is a lot more work ahead of me to be done. The real work starts to sell the music. I say ‘bring it on’.

** What Is The Word Update ** March 27, 2012

It’s good to keep you up to date on what has been happening here at Heartbreak A Stranger. A lot is going on. Let’s get you up to speed:

  • I have applied for some Government funding to help with the recording process. It’s an Emerging Artist funding program. I’ve enlisted the help of the local music association (Music Nova Scotia) to help write a music business plan. Needless to say, it was my first time attempting a plan. Putting down your ideas into a plan is a challenge. I’ve submitted the business plan and now i await a decision. Approval will mean the recording process can be done a little quicker and allow me to work on more ideas.

  • I’ve met with three artists and commissioned their talent to create some artwork:

I have asked Seth Graham (aka Brink Of Ink) to create the artwork for the CD sleeve. Seth created the pin, guitar head and more original artwork for myself (click the ‘artwork’ link on the right hand side of the page to see Seth’s work)

Local artist Crystal Vaughan (Crystal’s Esty site) is creating some letterpress which will have a ‘Trenton Project’ theme. It will be part of a fundraiser campaign that I will launch later in the year.

I had a meeting with Caitlin McGuire (website). She is another local artist and is a student at NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design). Caitlin is going to create a ‘Trenton Project’ themed pop-up book. Also part of a future fundraiser.

  • I met with Kimberley Mosher (Kim’s website) to discuss some marketing ideas. Kim has a wealth of knowledge on marketing. I know Kim through social media and she was kind enough to meet with me to discuss some ideas. I wanted someone with a fresh set of eyes to have a look at where I am with my marketing/branding.

And there’s a local show coming up on Thursday, Apr.5 at Alteregos

Lots more for the future. Stay tuned.
